As a managing partner of The EMC Group, Ms. Konicki provides financial services technology
consulting, with a specialty in all aspects of Smart Cards. She combines almost 20 years of
technology experience with over 10 years of financial card services experience. Her recent
projects have included managing the development of a strategic planning instrument for an
international financial services corporation. This project entailed developing resources and
information to provide an up-to-date, state-of-the-art perspective on all aspects of the smart
card industry. The final document provided information that assisted the client in developing
their strategic initiatives and long-term goals.
Ms. Konicki previously was the Vice President of Advanced Payment Systems for MasterCard
International Japan, Inc. based in Tokyo, Japan. She was responsible for the development
and management of ICC implementations for MasterCard payment products and ICC based applications
complementing MasterCard payment products for multiple application environments. Her major focus
was the development and implementation of the Multos-based ICC project for Mycal Card Co. Mycal
Card Co. is migrating their entire card base to utilize the benefits of a multiple application chip
environment. The project entails issuing approximately 5 million cards over the next few years.
Additionally, Ms. Konicki managed electronic commerce exploitation, the development of a local,
native language Web site for MasterCard Japan and network systems development to support new payment
products.
While in Tokyo, Ms Konicki became an active member of Foreign Executive Women, an organization of
foreign women in management positions dealing with the challenges of working in the unique environment
of Japan.
Prior to MasterCard, Ms Konicki was a Vice President at NationsBank Card Services (now Bank of America)
for Stored Value Systems and Technology and was responsible for the NationsBank technology
implementation of Visa Cash for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Visa Cash is an electronic cash instrument
intended to replace low value transactions. While working for Household Credit Services, she managed
the systems development to support the GM Card launch and implementation.
With over seven years of ICC based payment products development and implementations, Ms. Konicki's
addition to the Thornebrook team brings another one of the few who have significant hands-on
experience in the chip world to this elite group of consultants.
